Reunited and it feels oh so good. After a sixteen-year hiatus, Fleetwood Mac is back.
The tour, On With the Show, will kick off in September in Minneapolis, Minnesota and will feature 34 shows across the USA and Canada. Though none are coming close to us, here in North Carolina, the shows are worth checking out if you want to have your face melted from classic rock glory on break from school.
The band has toured in the past but without Christine McVie, though the tour was cut short due to a cancer diagnosis within the band. With health and egos in check the show will finally go on.
But what does Fleetwood Mac mean to a generation of technologically infused young adults? YA’s who have grown up surrounded by rap, hip-hop, EDM, and are bombarded by a Top 40 culture?
It means resurgence. Fleetwood Mac where the songs we sang when we were kids without knowing what they were. The rhythm and soul that enticed, moved, and shook a generation to make the changes that have got us where we are today. This music, especially Fleetwood Mac is simply stirring. This music is completely relevant still, as can be showcased by the cameo appearance of Stevie Nicks on the past season of America Horror Story.
These are shows that should not be missed- and may not occur again.
For newbies to Fleetwood Mac (and really for old fans as well) check out this video. But in the words of Juicy Jay… be forewarned. This stuff is “so dope I messed around and got addicted.”
